Růžena Kratochvílová born 1957 in České Budějovice
 She grew up in a big and strongly Christian-orientated family. Because of the totalitarian regime she was not allowed to study secondary school and art school was at that time absolutely out of the question . When she completed her apprenticeship, she started to study commercial academy as an external student and when she graduated from it, she went on to study at a language school where she passed the state exam in German and now she studies English. She has a strong opinion on classical study of art and she educates herself in this field only privately.
In 1978 she married Kryštof Kratochvíl and they have four children. Their life in a happy family is always influenced by art, design and restoration. She could exhibit her own creation, at the beginning paintings and then also sculptures, only after the Revolution of 1989. She had success already with her first author exhibition which was held in České Budějovice in 1993. Since then she organized 23 one-man exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad.
In 2000 the dream of Mr.and Mrs. Kratochvíl came true when they rented Kaplanka gallery in Český Krumlov. Here the already known artist presents regularly in summer-time her new creation. Interest in her exhibition, which is growing every year, implies that the original creation of Růžena Kratochvílová has new and new admirers.
